Posted: 31 Jul 2009 01:09 PM PDT Spreading the word…apparently it is for Edwin Encarnacion and potentially Yonder Alonso, which would be a rather ridiculous coup by JP. I’ll keep babbling here about why if that is indeed the case, but you should probably just go to mlbtraderumours for updates. Update: Maybe not…Ed Price says Rolen+Alonso is inaccurate. Which Twit do you believe? Update: [...]

The Good and Bad Notes From Training Camp: Morning Practice Posted: 31 Jul 2009 10:15 AM PDT I've said it before, but let me say it again; You will remember the name LeSean McCoy. The Harrisburg, PA native was electric in individual drills, as well as team drills. He showed that he has very soft hands and very good vision when running between the tackles, especially for a rookie. On several occasions McCoy would [...]

Raptors Republic Article – Small Deals Buoy Colangelo’s Design Posted: 31 Jul 2009 09:38 AM PDT I spit hot fire in my latest article for Raptors Republic. You can check it out here – it takes a look at Bryan Colangelo’s reputation in light of his (lack of) ultimate success, and how small deals like the Belinelli deal help him a great deal. – I’m also on Twitter. You can follow me here.
Fantasy Football Profile: Jonathan Stewart Posted: 31 Jul 2009 09:00 AM PDT Image courtesy of Icon SMI Jonathan Stewart had an amazing Rookie season, especially when you consider he wasn’t even the feature back. He ran for 836 yards with 10 TDs. If only DeAngelo Williams wasn’t ahead of him on the depth chart, we may be talking about a first round pick. As it stands he is [...]

NHL Hypocrisy Could Hit Hossa, Blackhawks Posted: 31 Jul 2009 08:08 AM PDT Marian Hossa’s “lifetime contract” with the Chicago Blackhawks is the subject of an investigation by NHL officials because it appears to be an attempt to circumvent the salary cap. But what about similar contracts signed by Detroit Red Wings forwards Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen? Update: Chris Pronger’s contract could be scrutinized as as well.
Britain’s Anne Keothavong prematurely ends 2009 WTA season due to injury Posted: 31 Jul 2009 07:54 AM PDT Britain’s top-ranked female tennis player Anne Keothavong won’t be competing for the rest of the 2009 WTA season due to serious knee injury she incurred during a doubles match on Tuesday at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California. A scan conducted on Wednesday saw a serious torn in her left knee which needs immediate surgery. She’s expected to be back home in Britain by Thursday. Four years ago, Keothavong got a similar injury but it was on her right knee. “I tried to avoid the fence and in doing so I twisted my knee. I’ll have to rehab for the rest of the season. Of course, I’m disappointed to be out for the rest of the season, but I’ll continue to work with my team and look forward to coming back next season,” the Briton said in an interview. This layoff would mean losing significant ranking points for Keothavong, who reached the US Open third round last year.
