Boomer Doesn’t Like Philly Fans

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 03:41 PM PDT

David Wells thinks Philly fan are the worst in baseball, probably because they called him a fat piece of shit earlier this season.

We were just doing our show out in center field and people were walking by saying "You fat piece of [bleep]. . . . Tell Cal he's gay. . . . Ernie Johnson sucks." I'm like, "Who the hell are these people?" We've got no part of baseball. We're doing the game and TBS stuff and these Phillies fans are just f-bombing us to death.

Notice how nobody heckled Eck? Boomer also went on to say the Yankees would shut up the Philly fans. We'll see about that. The Great Pumpkin might get booed tonight.

Fantasy Stock: Attention Target Shoppers

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 02:18 PM PDT

I talk about this all the time, but still the subject of targets is too often overlooked. As an example, last week Jets tight end Dustin Keller was targeted 10 times. Unfortunately he only caught ...

A Celtics Opening Night to Remember

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 02:00 PM PDT

So there I was, walking out of North Station and heading to the TD Garden on Wednesday night for the Boston Celtics first home game of the year. It was early but there was still that feeling all Celtics fans get as they walk towards the Garden together. The Boston policemen were directing traffic in [...]

Rask, Bruins Defense Stifle Oilers in 2-0 Win

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 01:56 PM PDT

The last time Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask shut out an NHL team, the Bruins were riding the hottest goaltender in the NHL (Tim Thomas) on their way to the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Rask, in his only game all last season, shut out the New York Rangers 1-0 and finshed with 35 saves. [...]

Dan Henderson: The Bobby Hull of MMA

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 01:39 PM PDT

By E. Spencer Kyte (espencerkyte@mmaratings.net) Dan Henderson is the Mixed Martial Arts version of Bobby Hull. For those unfamiliar with the career and biography of "The Golden Jet," Hull was one of the NHL's preeminant stars, sniping goals from the left wing for the Chicago Blackhawks in larger quantities than anyone before him, including Maurice "The Rocket" Richard. But in 1972, Hull grew unhappy with being chronically underpaid and threatened to sign with the upstart WHL. Even though his contract demands seem unreasonable, the owners banded together, came up with the money and landed one of the marquee names in the sport to help sell their brand. Dan Henderson is Strikeforce's...

Florida vs. … Grambling?

High Five/Low Five: Week 8

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 11:37 AM PDT

Happy Halloween, fantasy football fans! So I have always considered Halloween as the unofficial halfway point of the fantasy football season. By now, you know if your team is a contender or pretender. You know if your roster is haunted or not. You know if they have had a spell cast against them. [...]

Girardi: CC Sabathia to start Game 4

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 11:25 AM PDT

Joe Girardi just announced CC Sabathia as the Game 4 starter.

It could have been Chad Gaudin, but I think Girardi made the right move. Not to sound like a broken record, but it's the World Series, and there's no reason to hold him back when he is certainly capable of going on three days rest (he proved it in the ALCS).

However, there is a reason why Girardi hasn't announced Game 5 or Game 6 starters yet. I'm not sure if Burnett or Pettitte are capable of going on short rest. Are you?

Microsoft changes executive relocation policy
In response to shareholders' complaints, Microsoft has changed its policy for relocating recently hired executives so the company doesn't get stuck paying for their homes during poor housing markets.

Microsoft to indirectly fund L.A.'s switch to Google Apps
Talk about irony. Of the $7.2 million the Los Angeles city government will be spending to switch its e-mail system to Google Apps, $1.5 million of it will come from Microsoft, according to City Council meeting minutes (PDF).

Sounders, Dynamo let the air out of the party
Ties are a matter of easy acceptance for most in soccer, but for Sounders FC, which rolled into the playoffs with three consecutive wins, the 0-0 outcome Thursday was exasperating, deflating, mildly infuriating and no way to keep the party rocking.

P-I pick: Seahawks won't be dancing in Dallas
What's your prediction on the Seattle-Dallas score?

Unger already an anchor on Seahawks' shifting line
He's the new guy on the block. The big rookie from Oregon learning on the job at right guard. But somehow, in this season of disarray on the Seattle Seahawks offensive line, Max Unger has already become one of the team's steadiest commodities.

Seahawks desperately need a shot in the, uhh, arm
The Seahawks need a win Sunday in Dallas to keep their dwindling postseason prospects alive.

Mariners hire Brumley as third base coach
The Seattle Mariners have hired Mike Brumley as their new third base coach, completing the team's 2010 staff. He replaces Bruce Hines.

UW cross country women repeat as Pac-10 champs
They didn't make it a clean sweep this time, but the nation's top-ranked University of Washington's women's cross country team captured the Pac-10 Conference championship for a second straight year Friday in Long Beach, Calif.

Hawthorne ready to bring The Heat at middle linebacker
With Lofa Tatupu officially going on injured reserve Friday, the Seattle Seahawks have only one choice: They're going to bring "The Heater."

Returning to Dallas no longer big deal for Jones
Homecomings aren't what they used to be for Julius Jones.
