
| Microsoft Growth of in-car 'infotainment' systems deliberately slow It's been more than a dozen years since the introduction of OnStar, the automotive communications hook-up from General Motors. It's been six years since Microsoft and Fiat forged a partnership that eventually spawned Blue&Me, the first major in-car "infotainment" system focusing beyond safety and emergency response, and nearly four years since the product was released. Ford Sync, also built on top of Windows Embedded Auto, debuted the next year – in 2007 – and last week saw the unveiling ... AP: Is there really a market for the tablet PC? The Associated Press reports: Now, speculation is growing that in two weeks Apple will unveil a tablet-style touch-screen computer that is bigger than an iPhone but smaller than a standard laptop. If indeed that is Apple's next move &ndash the company won't comment – it would have to show us why we ought to pay for yet another Internet-connected screen, on top of the TVs, computers and smart phones we already have.
