Mariners primed for AL West breakout
Ichiro Suzuki doesn't play down rampant predictions that his Seattle Mariners - baseball's winter darlings following the acquisition of ace Cliff Lee and others - are headed back to the postseason for the first time since 2001.

Friday's headlines: M's break camp with a splat
The Mariners broke camp on Thursday and headed to Albuquerque, a welcome getaway after six weeks in the sun that ended with a thud when Ian Snell got shelled by a bunch of minor-leaguers wearing White Sox uniforms.

Snell struggles in final spring start
With Cliff Lee on the disabled list, right-hander Ian Snell will start the second game of the season at Oakland on Tuesday. If Thursday's performance was any indication, it could be a long April for a beat-up Mariners rotation.

Elarton pitches two scoreless for White Sox
Scott Elarton pitched two scoreless innings in his first start since 2008 and a squad of Chicago White Sox minor leaguers roughed up Ian Snell in a 9-4 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday.
