Though Microsoft plans to fire back with Office Web Apps, soon to be released in conjunction with Office 2010, the software superpower has another plan. Today's Microsoft launch: SQL Server 2008 R2 In anticipation of next month's Office 2010 release, Microsoft continues to roll out new versions of its long list of enterprise products. This time it's SQL Server 2008 R2. Bill, Melinda Gates to appear on 'American Idol' Bill and Melinda Gates, co-chairs of the world's largest charitable organization, will appear Wednesday evening on "American Idol." They'll be talking about their foundation's work during a segment called "Idol Gives Back." Google discloses demands for censorship, user data The Associated Press reports: The country-by-country breakdown released Tuesday on Google's Web site marks the first time that the Internet search leader has provided such a detailed look at the censorship and data requests that it gets from regulators, courts and other government agencies. The figures, for the roughly 100 countries in which it operates, cover the final half of last year and will be updated every six months. Yahoo gets $78M from Microsoft as search deal spins up Remember last summer, when Microsoft said it would have some transitional costs for its newly announced search partnership with Yahoo? Turns out that's $150 million, and $78 million has already gone to the Internet company.
