Boeing gets $11.9 billion contract to modernize B-52 weapons
The U.S. Air Force Wednesday granted Boeing an $11.9 billion, eight-year contract for the acquisition and sustainment activities needed to support modernization of B-52 weapon systems.

HP abandons Android for own WebOS on tablets
No huge surprise here: Hewlett-Packard has opted to use only its newly acquired Palm operating system, WebOS, on future smart phones and tablet computers, the Financial Times reports. Jon Rubinstein, the former Palm CEO who stayed on at HP, told the FT that his new company is on track to release a WebOS tablet early next year. The computer maker also has its Windows 7-based Slate, which still will ship sooner.

Acquisitions in 2010: Google, 23; Microsoft, 0 (but really?)
According to analysis firm CB Insights, Google has announced 23 acquisitions so far this year. Meanwhile, Microsoft has announced none in the past nine months.

Boeing gets $5.3 billion Navy contract for 124 aircraft
The U.S. Navy Tuesday granted Boeing a $5.3 billion contract for 66 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters and 58 EA-18G Growler aircraft.
