Microsoft to raise Xbox Live Gold subscription price
Starting Nov. 1, the price of an Xbox Live Gold subscription is rising from $50 per year to $60 per year, Microsoft announced Monday.

New Xbox controller gets convertible D-pad, gray buttons
Five days after launching Kinect, which lets gamers use no controller at all, Microsoft will release a refreshed Xbox 360 controller with a convertible directional pad. The D-pad twists to morph from a disc-like design to a plus-sign design.

Microsoft to build $500M data center in Virginia
Microsoft plans to spend nearly $500 million building a new data center in Southern Virginia, the state's governor announced.

Bing app lands on Verizon's Android marketplace
Monday marked the release of the Bing app on the Android mobile OS. And sure, while that means Android users can now get a Bing app, it also means Microsoft is opening up its closed-off world and tailoring its services for other platforms.

Home prices were up in 17 of 20 cities in June, but the last gasp for federal homebuyers' tax credits appeared to have little effect in Seattle.
