Apple, Google, Microsoft, Research in Motion ... Hewlett-Packard? That makes for five operating systems now in the tablet race -- which is still, hands down, being dominated by Apple and its iPad.

Smart phones outsell PCs for first time
For the first time ever, smart phones such as Apple Inc.'s iPhone are outselling personal computers, according to a report by research group IDC that was released Monday.

Microsoft starts shipping first Windows 7 service pack
The first service pack for Windows 7 and its server counterpart has been released to manufacturers and will be generally available Feb. 22, Microsoft said today.
