Is this the end for McNabb??

Posted: 18 Oct 2011 03:31 PM PDT

According to sources, the Minnesota Vikings have decided that the Christian Ponder era will begin on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, benching QB Donovan McNabb in the process. I hate to say this about McNabb because I've been one of the main supporters of the guy and I felt like the move to Minnesota was the best possible situation for him, but it appears that we are seeing the beginning of the end of McNabb's career. I think it's sad because I don't think the Vikings' coaching staff or the front office did the best job of making things the easiest for McNabb. You know that you need to give McNabb a person to throw to if you're the front office, so why do you let WR Sidney Rice go? You know you have RB Adrian Peterson if you're the coaching staff, so why don't you run the football more and set up play action passing to make things easier for McNabb. You throw that in with the fact that it seems like the Vikings wanted to put Ponder in anyway, and it turns out to be a no win situation for McNabb. No matter what happens from here on out, I still feel that McNabb is a good QB. I think that the Vikings are in a position where it doesn't look good for them when it comes to this year's outlook, so I guess you might as well find out what you have in Ponder, the team's first-round draft choice. But I think what the Vikings are going to find out is that the problem is not McNabb. It might be the play calling. It might be that the offensive line is not that good. or it might be that the Vikings need to shake up some things within management. Whatever it may be, I don't think that the problems go away with just a QB change. Unfortunately, McNabb is the guy who has lost his starting spot, and I think that it's the beginning of the end for the veteran QB. Sad story. What do you think?

Question about the Raiders

Posted: 18 Oct 2011 01:13 PM PDT

The Oakland Raiders made a huge splash on in free agency this morning, picking up disgruntled Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer in exchange for a first and second round pick. The question is by picking up Palmer, does this make the Raiders a Super Bowl contender out of the AFC?? I felt like the Raiders could be a player with QB Jason Campbell in the fold. I like the fact that the Raiders front office is trying to go after success and are willing to make the necessary moves to do so. Getting Palmer may give them that legitimate big arm QB that the late owner Al Davis has been looking for. I think this is a good move for the Raiders and this does make them better. What makes this better is that Palmer is very familiar with head coach Hue Jackson and the offense depends on the running game more than their quarterbacks. This is a perfect fit in my eyes for the Raiders. I think this makes the Raiders very dangerous in the AFC as far as the Super Bowl goes. What do you think?

Give the Eagles credit for big win at Washington

Posted: 18 Oct 2011 12:42 PM PDT

I just wanted to take the time to give credit to the Philadelphia Eagles for their 20-13 win at Washington against the Redskins on Sunday. The Eagles were able to save their season, at least for a couple of weeks, and in the process make things even more congested in the competitive NFC East. What makes this a better win was the way they were able to do it, which was run the football and play good defense. These were two areas that have come under fire during this tough time for Philly. Running back LeSean McCoy had 28 carries for 126 yards with a score and the defense intercepted Redskins QB Rex Grossman 4 times in the victory. It's about time that Eagles head coach Andy Reid starts to depend on his running game to take some pressure off of QB Michael Vick. After all, the best friend of a quarterback is a good running game. McCoy is durable and is more than capable of carrying the load. You also have Ronnie Brown, one of those great pick-ups in the off season, behind McCoy. You didn't pick him up just to sit on the bench, so use him. All of those defenders the Eagles picked up finally came to play also. I know the Eagles are an offense that depend on the big play. They can still make those big plays, just in a different form. With McCoy running well, they can use some play-action passing to get receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin involved in the game. Vick also used tight end Brent Celek to his advantage. The Eagles might have found something in the Redskins game, something that they can build on for the future. Now they can go into their bye week with some momentum. Maybe they can live up to all that dream team hype after all(I know, not so fast). First things first, the Eagles just needed a win before anything. They got that, now it up to the coaching staff and the players to stick with what works for them. Only time will tell, but at least for now, the Eagles have something to build on. Give credit to them for stepping up and getting a much-needed win over a division rival.

Rex or Beck

Posted: 18 Oct 2011 12:31 PM PDT

After watching Beck replace Grossman, I still think Grossman is the better option.  The Eagles defense has been solid this year and their backs were against the wall in that game so it was a bad time for Grossman to face them.  Couple that with Grossman having a horrible game and you get 4 picks.  When Beck came in he seemed to throw a few ducks and didn't really look good at all.   He was entering in the middle of the game and has probably had no practice but I still don't like what I saw from him. I think Grossman is their best shot. If Grossman starts against the Panthers, look for him to turn it around next week against a very below average Carolina defense.  If you are interested in sports betting, I expect the Redskins to win outright on the road.
